The Fictioneers… There have been many in history, but now only five remain. Formed in Edmond Oklahoma in the distant past the band has displayed excellent staying power and adaptability over time. Their story is one of creative significance rarely burdened by facts, after all they are The Fictioneers. .. Andy Adams is one of two charter members and the primary song writer. His guitar style authentically reflects the groove of the delta and his voice is genuine. Real rural blues mixed with a modern lyrical form streams from his imagination into his songs and the performance of the Fictioneers. .. The other charter member is referred to as Biggie. No one knows why and all are afraid to ask. His harmonica riffs are vintage yet contemporary and all in a single breath. He can drone out a blue rhythm or nail down a fast passage with ease and accuracy. His minor moods evoke deep emotion and visions of vanished hope. He can also capture the delta. David Bruster’s guitar is the counterpoint to the lyrical drama. His focus on slide licks with effects adds dimension to the story’s execution. Left with a great leeway for improvisation, his reactions to the band groove are essentially seamless adjectives in this chronicle of fantasy. Every juke joint that moves needs a drivin wheel and David keeps the joint a rolling. Drummer Michael Clardy is the foundation of The Fictioneers. From the subtle whoosh of brushes on the snare to a raving beat, Michael provides the rhythm incentives that make the story interesting. In addition to percussion, his skills as a sound man and recording engineer are extraordinary and his contributions to the sound are beyond measure. Bob Moore plays the bass and sings. By locking in with the drums he helps create a rhythm section that is solid and soulful. Bass lines are fundamental to a great groove. The Fictioneers provide a vehicle to another time and place. It’s not the past. It’s not the future. It’s a world where anything is possible and if it can’t happen it probably will. This seems insane but after all they are The Fictioneers.
